Get Your Thrift Shop On

I saw this video on Melanie's blog Bag and a Beret this morning and instantly embraced it as a cool thrifter's anthem. Later, The Teen, out of the blue, asked, "Have you heard that thrift shop song on the radio?" The RADIO? This groove has clearly blown up!

Language alert, ah, yes, there is some. But it's so dang funny, it's worth it.

Yeah, I'ma take your grandma's style...for real, ask your grandma - can I have her hand-me-downs?

  3. Hilarious! "Smells like R Kelly's sheets" could put me off the shops for a while, though. : o

  4. Ack, your link doesn't work in my country, but is is Macklemore? A friend of mine just sent me the YouTube link. Lol, thrifting is the way to go!

  5. Love this song, and if not for the language I'd be singing it at school when I'm wearing my thrift store outfits. This has been my life since I was 14.

I hope things are looking up (whatever that means) for you and the Teen and family. Do you know how many people are pulling for all of you?

  8. Totally love this song. A little useless trivia for you--this guy is actually from Denver. In fact, a friend of mine was dating him at the time this became a hit. It is a great song and an even better video.

  9. Hilarious! I hadn't seen that. Is that what thrift shops in the US look like?? (eyes grow big and round in wonder) ...

  10. A friend, knowing I wear vintage all the time and love thrift shopping, sent me this song a few weeks ago and I've been hooked ever since. It's not usually the kind of music I favour, but there's just something so, so catchy about the tune!

*PS* Thank you for sharing about your eShakti experiences with me. I'm so sorry to hear that you've also experienced receiving an item from them that was wayyyyy too small, despite having selected the (if only on paper) correct measurements. Several people have shared with me that they also experienced this problem when ordering from eShakti, so unfortunately I don't think you and I are in a two woman boat. If you aren't able to return the garment, perhaps you could try selling it on eBay to recoup some of your losses.
