Paralegal Career Dressing: Floral Week

Or Proof I Didn't Wear the Same Pair of Pants Three Days in a Row

Rumor 'round the blogosphere, okay I heard it from Melanie, is that Sarah at Misfits Village has declared it Floral Week, only it can last as long as we want. That is my kind of deadline.

The Deets: H&M Dress (thrifted); Banana Republic button down (clearance); NaturalSoul by Naturalizer boots (@$27 Ross Dress for Less); Rhinestone bracelet (Loft clearance); Enamel hinge bracelet (Kohls on sale)

I only accidentally had a floral dress on today. I wanted to shake things up a bit after wearing the same deadly dull black pants for two days in a row. Plus, this dress is a tight fit, and I figured I could fill up some gaps by layering it over a shirt. Actually, the neckline is too deep to wear it to the office without a shirt.

Prior to reading style blogs, it would never have occurred to me to use my sheath dresses as jumpers. I am so literal.

It is supposed to turn cold this weekend (yay?), so next week I might do another GoodWill Goldmine week, and show off all the winter and fall GoodWill scores I haven't been able to wear yet.

Hey, I'm thinking of changing the name of this blog to Who's Your Grandma (Style)? Yes? No? :P

  2. I know, all the layering would never have occurred to me prior to reading style blogs. A dress under a skirt? A blouse under a dress? Who knew??

I love this dress on you - and the unexpected peek of burgundy tights are just fabulous. Love the boots - sex-ay.

Eh, not keen on the name, to be honest. :)

  6. I'm pretty literal too and very rarely wear a dress as a jumper. Think I'm gonna have to save my florals for spring time!

  7. Don't you DARE justify that coward's ridiculous comments by renaming your blog! You look beautiful in this look Lynne--how are you feeling? I never thought about dresses as jumpers/shirts/skirts before blogging either--who knew??? I looooove your dress and your tights are the perfect accent. Great boots too!

  8. It never would have occurred to me to use the dress in this creative way. Smart move. And your sense of humor keeps us laughing.

  9. Now that I read style blogs, I do wear layers more often. I like the dress!

  10. Love this dress layered and with berry tights. I tend to forget to layer under things. It certainly makes things more versatile and interesting.

  11. Aww! This is too perfect. Glad you decided to pull out a dress after the black pants. The tights really set off the yellow color in the print. I'm pretty creative sometimes, but those ideas are rarely original! I rely on my blogger buds to give me the low down on how to wear things in new ways.

  12. I love your florals! I'm feeling a mod thing here. You look fantastic and I hope you are feeling better... If you change the title, every time you see it you will be reminded of that malicious remark. Your sunshine doesn't need that cloud. But the name is rather cheeky, isn't it? LOL

  13. What a pretty dress, and it works so well over a shirt. I have come to the conclusion I am really quite useless at the whole layering thing, and need to up my game. Florals make any outfit look cheerful, and the claret-coloured tights are fabulous.
Well, I don't want you to change anything about your blog, Lynne, but how about This Grandma Kicks Ass?!
PS. How are you doing? xxxxx

  14. This is so pretty.
I don't know that I could pull off anything so bold, but you have taken a splashy dress and made it perfect for the office. The tights are great with it!

  15. LOVE this dress and the idea of wearing florals into the Fall. In the past I used to hang my florals up once it got colder, but I am not going to do that anymore. :) The name idea is funny, but I like you as you are. :)

  16. Love the outfit and the unexpected zing of the burgundy tights!
Yeah--before style blogs i would've never thought about using a sleeveless dress as a jumper. I'm planning on doing just that with one of my maxi's
I think you should name the blog "Bite this Grandma's ASS!!"

  17. Hey watch out, you are getting a little too cool there, Ms. Lynne. Wearing your layering and coloring your tights and upping your boots. Too cool for school, yep.

  18. For some reason, I was having an error getting to your blog. It's finally working! So love this floral sheath paired with the white button up. Those cranberry tights look fabulous and so fall. Your hair looks really good in your photos too :) Have a wonderful weekend. Heather

  20. Wow, Lynne! This is an amazing look. You have inspired me to try a shirt under a dress look next week.

Truly, you are a marvel for looking so put together when you don't feel well. It can only make you feel better x

  24. You look outstanding in this floral get up, perfect! :) love how you styled it with burgundy tights. :) and no please dont change your blog name to grandma style, you would certainly fail at ;) ( meaning your style is far from granny/frumpy)

  25. OK. It never really occurred to me until NOW that I could use a sheath dress as an OVER layer. I'm way behind you.

This looks very cool; I love the colour mix with the floral print.
