Paralegal Career Dressing: Back to the Classics & Dread Nylons

Okay, let's make that warm nylons. Each day this week is supposed to be a bit chillier than the last. Which is good, because at the rate we were going last week, the temperature would have been 120 degrees by June 1.

I'd love some styling suggestions for this "special occasion" dress I used to be saving for a special occasion that never occurred. The last time I wore it, I was upstaged by The Corginator. (I definitely prefer the darker red hair. Miss Clairol, here I come!)

I bet if I wasn't taking my own pic, someone might have mentioned the hair thang. Too late. Calvin Klein dress (Macy's w/ gift card); Banana Republic cardigan (thrifted @$6); Liz Claiborne Flex snake skin pumps (Shoe Carnival); Wide belt (Loft sale); Earrings oh why oh why can't you see 'em? (Wilmington street vendor)
A peek of the earrings. They match the cardi.
My dearly departed maternal grandmother would have a fit if she saw this most unladylike pose :P
Has the cooler weather sent any of you running for your panty hose and/or tights?

Pastels | Everybody, Everywear

  1. Ohwow, these colors are so pretty. They look marvelous with your hair. Also those shoes are fierce. It's been cooler here, but I doubt it'll be cool enough to wear anything more than 3/4 sleeves and trousers tomorrow.

  2. You look great in all this blue Lynne! It is a great color on you! I especially love the shoes! We have been warm all week (almost 80 today!) but it is supposed to rain this weekend. Boo!

  3. Sigh, yes, I'm back to my panty hose. And all achy tonight because of impending changes in the weather.

THIS outfit is my favorite to date of all I've seen on your blog. The colors of it are subdued, but very ladylike...in spite of the pose that would make your grandmother shudder. I even like the hair in the first photo.

  4. Yes, back to nylons here too...on another note, could you look any more fabulous? I love this outfit!! LOVE LOVE LOVE

  5. I'm going to add to the chorus of love, love, love this outfit! I even pinned it on Pinterest.

The gray Calvin dress would make an excellent base for just about any color, so you could recreate this with many of your cardigans. The orange jacket you bought in Charleston will rock with this dress, too.

Gray looks so good with both pastels and brights, and the suiting fabric of the dress is very office appropriate.

  6. We're in autumn here, so yip, the hose are making an appearance.

You look absolutely stunning in this outfit Lynne ... stunning I say!

Such a pretty and feminine look - and I'm a little envious of your belt - saw something similar but in black.

Hope you're having a fabulous week.

  7. Grey is my go-to neutral now... well, grey or navy but grey is much softer. I love everything about this; the colors, the shapes! I am coveting that belt big-time!

  8. @Megan Mae ~ It's hard to go wrong with snake skin. And the day got steadily colder here :(

@Frannie ~ Aw, thanks. I think I'm getting my money's worth from these shoes, which are a neutral in my book :)

@Terri ~ You made my day! You have such great style yourself.

@Sharon ~ You guys are making me blush. I think improving photography skills are helping my clothes, too. It's a long road to pics I'm happy with.

@Louise ~ I've never been pinned, not in real life, or virtually, as far as I know, so I'm highly flattered. I'm ready to Pinterest, but as a legal profession, still nervous about potential copyright infringement, although I wonder who would complain about having their pics shared with others, as long as credit's given.

@Wendy ~ I really have enjoyed this belt, and have more than gotten my money's worth. I'm not allowed to buy black these days. My natural inclination is to dress like a funeral director :P

@Taylor ~ As I get older, I'm discovering that gray is very kind next to my face, so it's become one of my go-to neutrals, too.
