Paralegal Career Dressing: Visible Monday Is Freezing

This is not the much more colorful outfit I had picked out to participate in Not Yet Dead Style's Visible Monday, but a chill was in the air today that sent me running for my fully lined woolly pants and a sweater. Unfortunately, due to continued weight loss, the sweater hung on me. I think I saved it by adding a wide belt, something I would never have thought of before reading style blogs. I really wasn't a very imaginative stylist.

MODA Sweater (Victoria's Secret clearance); Express Design Studio slacks (thrifted); Impo booties from Ross Dress for Less (same ones I've been running around in all winter); Belt (Ross Dress for Less); Earrings (thrift store); Ring (gift from co-worker)
It's all about the bling, I mean the ring.
Close-up of the ring from the last time I wore it with my "sofa" dress.
What are your go-to career clothes when you're freezing?

  1. Love the peplum effect of the blouse. My favorite anything when it's freezing is layering a button-up style shirt with a natural fiber sweater (I prefer wool/cotton/silk blends to acrylic/polyester)

  2. Lynne--Thank you for visiting Rags! I was stunned to see your post load as you look so much like my aunt, who is an assistant to a judge in southern Missouri. The ring is beautiful and I love the pants. Is your weight loss something you're trying to do? Or a side-effect of something else.

    I'm a new follower!

  4. Well, that's a good problem to have..are you trying to lose weight? You don't need to imo.
I think your outfit is great! It's what I'd usually wear to the office, too.

  6. On colder days I pull out my cardigans. I have them in lots of bright colors which helps the mood on cold and dreary days too.

I agree with the other comments, the belt did help. A colorful scarf could have added a punch of color and provided added warmth. Just a thought!

  8. Terri, I'm excited that several of my fave bloggers, have commented here for the first time, so thank you!

No, the weight loss is not intentional. I actually was 20 pounds heavier several years ago, decided to accept the change - and stupidly got rid of all my smaller clothes :o Now I know bodies change again or back or something!

  10. Jeannie, thanks for the nice comment. I'd actually like to gain 5-7 pounds. I'm definitely not trying to lose weight.

  12. Mandy, thanks for the suggestion. I did think about adding a scarf, but wondered if it would be too much with the really wide belt. Being such a shorty, I have to be careful that my clothes aren't wearing ME. Taking pictures has actually helped me see what works well - and also what I thought looked pretty good but didn't! :)
