Paralegal Career Dressing: I Found Another Maxi Skirt

What silken mysteries lie squished between mightier thicker clothes in the back of the closet.

I forgot about this wrap skirt my husband gifted me with during a 2004 trip to Charleston. I rarely wore it, because I'm so short and it's so long. I couldn't figure out how to style it. I might have worn it to the theater a couple of times in the last six years. But with inspiration from my fave style bloggers, I'm finding my own style, and wearing outfits I wouldn't have dreamed of wearing before - to work.

The comfortable Nine West wedges with the 3 1/2 inch heels also helped make this long skirt happen.

Wrap skirt (unknown boutique in Charleston); Draped tee shirt (Loft outlet); Nine West wedges (Ross Dress for Less); Chain (thrift store); Ring (Forever 21)
There was a stiff breeze outside, but it wouldn't cooperate to show you how gauzy and soft the fabric of the skirt is, like a chiffon scarf.  The fabric flows like water.

A timely vehicle :P

I wish Dear Hubby could take all my outfit pics. He's good. Pro'bly 'cause he loves me.
The inner lining of the skirt is worthy of wearing inside-out.
Is there anything lurking in your closet that you bought - but haven't figured out how to wear yet?

ADDENDUM: Heh. I had this skirt on backwards all day. There's a gold border that's supposed to run around the front. Pro'bly explains why it's longer in the front, too...I clearly need help getting dressed. Even if you don't have a blog, you should try taking outfit pics. They can be VERY enlightening.

  1. That skirt is just gorgeous.

I have a few items in my closet that I haven't worn yet, mostly because the weather won't cooperate with my spring buys, but some because I don't know what I'm doing with them.

In particular, a fuchsia colored cardigan that while I like the cut and fabrication, it also stymies me a bit.

  2. I love the colors you've paired together here - and those nude wedges! I've been looking for a pair like them forever - are they recent?

  3. That skirt is beautiful! I've been enjoying your re-discovered items.

I may have a couple of tops and gifted items lurking around, but I try to put things into rotation right away and my minimal storage forces all my clothing into easy sight so I rarely "lose" anything.

  4. @Gracey ~ I have a fushia colored cardi, too, that I don't wear much, but am going to try with my more summery floral dresses.

  5. @Lisa ~ As a matter of fact, they are this year, at least from Ross Dress for Less $25. They didn't have my size 6.5 but they had plenty of 7s, so I just bought some gel insoles, stuck 'em in, and kept on going. I can actually walk in this 3 1/2 inch heels, so have been wearing them to business conferences.

  6. @Megan Mae ~ Thanks! This skirt is so slim that it really kind of hid between some other clothes. I have a tiny closet and half (swiped a bit of hubby's 'cause he never hangs anything up :P) but still cannot easily see everything. I think I need to do some kind of inventory.

  7. Look at this pretty skirt! I love the pattern and the fabric sounds dreamy!

  8. oh, oh, oh! I think this may be one of those magic skirts which can actually be styled as a dress. You should do a search on YouTube for different ways to style it. It looks very springy as is. I like the pose in the courthouse.

  9. very pretty outfit, I think you should totally wear maxis, this skirt makes your legs look miles long. It's great for weekend and work appropriate too. I have a floral sheer jacket that till now I am still not sure how to style it.

  10. I have a spring dress I haven't worn in over a year, mainly because I can't find a cute sweater or cover up for it.

I am trying to organize a clothes swap with some friends in the area. That is my favorite way to find new styles.

  11. Gorgeous skirt and love the top with it. I have quite a few items that get 'lost' or 'ignored' but I do try different looks more now that I blog my outfits.
