Today Texan Mauricio Celis was found guilty of 14 counts of falsely holding himself out as a lawyer -- and ordered to be fitted with an electronic monitor immediately. The guilty charges included multiple counts of accepting checks for attorney fees, handing out a business card stating he is a licensed attorney in Mexico as well as describing himself as an attorney licensed in Mexico on a website, describing his occupation as an attorney licensed in Mexico on an insurance application, and signing settlement documents as an attorney. The sentencing phase of his trial started today. Mr. Celis is appealing the verdicts in this case, but still faces charges of theft, money laundering and claiming to be a police officer.See KrisTV.com.
