Slain Legal Assistant Student’s Mother Pleads to Eliminate Domestic Violence

I am following up on my January 15, 2009 blog entry, "Young Legal Assistant Student and Her Children Slain in Oklahoma." Following the tragic incident, Summer Rust's mother, Susan Rust, has appeared in various media outlets, pleading for the elimination of domestic violence.

"It's happening to someone every day," she said. "The only thing I can get out of this is the hope that maybe I can help save someone else's daughter and keep some other mother from going through what I'm going through right now."

Ironically, prior to her death, Ms. Rust had attended domestic violence and sexual assault education classes as part of an adult education course – and not because she feared her live-in boyfriend, Joshua Durcho, who has been arrested for the multiple killings.
