Former Legal Assistant Promoted to Chief Magistrate

On January 14, 2009, former West Virginia paralegal Traci Carper-Strickland was appointed to be the Chief Magistrate of Kanahwa County by Circuit Judge Jim Stucky. Her degrees include an Associate Degree in Legal Assisting from West Virginia Junior College. She started her career as a legal and trial assistant in the county prosecutor’s office before being promoted to the manager of juvenile proceedings, which included handling about 450 active juvenile files. Carper-Strickland’s rise through the magistrate ranks is reported in the The Charleston Daily Mail.
